Drug and Alcohol treatment that works
Drug and alcohol treatment that works

Not all drug and alcohol treatments are in-depth
Most drug treatment is just too short!
The primary reason Addicts fail with treatment is because the overwhelming majority of treatment-seekers go to short-term, 30-90 day programs. (insurance-driven). Very soon, upon graduating, the Addict is back to old behaviors.
Relapse doesn’t happen because they Addict doesn’t care, or, they forgot what they learned at their last rehab…
Addicts fail because they have never been given the proper amount of time to actually solidify real change!
Anyone can recover when given proper time & space for:
- Healing Body
- Healing Brain
- Learning new ways of thinking
- Learning new behavioral responses
- Space to resist change (debate & argue like all addicts)
- Resolution of all of it, for eventual acceptance / change
This is what blocks change
Addicts are always in a hurry to; “Get back to work” (maybe this time I’ll keep my job) or, say; “I only want to do 30 days” (like they’re planning a trip).
This is exactly why so many addicts fail, even after rehab. Expecting lasting change from 30 days of rehab is like taking piano lessons and expecting to be a Prodigy, after only 30 days.
Addiction is a brain-disease that manifests as bad behavior (compulsive, impulsive, self-centeredness, low self-image, etc…). If allowed the adequate time for true healing, true change. the Addict can recover and, finally, live up to full potential!
I see this every day in my work!

Recovery is not rocket-science
People who achieve lasting recovery, do so, by actually investing time into themselves. Whatever it takes attitude!
Families can play a big role in achieving real recovery by shutting-down the Addict’s ideas for their own recovery…
“If the addict knew what they needed they would’ve fixed themself a long time ago”.
Start demanding ‘No More fast-food’ treatment- Just enough time to;
- Dry-out / Get relief
- Pretend “this time will be the one”
- Relapse
- Crash & Burn, again
Damage on the brain is not irreversible, but it does take time (18-24 mos).
Personal Attention
All residents of Justin’s Lighthouse receive specific attention to his/her unique issues and taught how to overcome them through a daily routine of group activities, responsibilities, and, private counseling.

Investing time in self to achieve recovery
Let me define the word “issues” so you may have a clear perspective.
ISSUES simply refers to the fundamental breakdown within a person that prevents them from living a healthy & productive lifestyle.
Typically, a person’s “issues” include;
- Trauma
- Personal disappointments
- Anger that hasn’t been dealt-with
- Faulty thinking
- Limited/Distorted world-view
- Low self-esteem
A general inability to handle normal life functions without the need to use substances, run away, throw tantrums, blame others, and/or self destruct.
It’s not a drug ‘problem’
The use of drugs, alcohol, anger, and, other dysfunctional behaviors are merely symptoms of a much deeper inability to deal with life, properly.
We DO NOT treat the symptoms of addiction. There are much deeper issues within a person that drives addictions. We address core emotional and behavioral problems which brings about a complete healing.
Addicts experience the same life-problems as non-addicts. So, why does one group resort to drugs & alcohol to avoid and escape, but, the other group doesn’t?
Obviously, there are many reasons for this, but the primary reason is that addicts/alcoholics simply never developed the ability to handle life in proper ways.
Focus on real solutions
Yes, we do believe in the genetic factor as a contributing element of addiction, however, in order to solve the problem of addiction and maintain a long life of productivity, happiness, and, of course, sobriety, a person must learn to recognize the sickness within themselves.
With the right direction, information, and, cooperation, a person can begin to develop maturity. A new sense of self (that involves taking personal responsibility) replaces the old sense of entitlement which has kept them stuck in an endless cycle of throwing tantrums when they don’t get what they want.
